    Home Office

Working from home has gone from being occasional to the norm. Homeowners looking to carve out a private space for the home office often look to underused spaces such as living rooms, bedrooms, and bonus rooms.

As part of a larger renovation, Wood Wise helped these homeowners create the perfect home office space from an existing living room with just a few changes. A French door was installed at the living room entrance off the foyer. Custom built-in open shelving and floor to ceiling pantries provide plenty of storage for work-related items. A pocket door provides privacy from the new laundry room. The accent wall of shiplap adds texture and interest. Well-placed recessed lights and new LVP flooring complete the transformation.

    Uniquely Yours

One of the privileges of working with homeowners to improve their homes is to see the unique and personal look of each project. This kitchen is a true reflection of the homeowner who defined and refined her look through careful study. Wood Wise designer Kathy Walker helped her with the new layout and advised on selections so the homeowner could achieve the exact look she was after. The results are a stunning kitchen, loaded with details that truly set this kitchen apart.

    Kitchen Ready

A new layout that expands the kitchen into the existing dining room was the final winning plan, creating a show-stopping space in this Raleigh home. Wood Wise designer Kathy Walker worked with the homeowners to create the kitchen of their dreams by adding plenty of countertop workspace and cabinets in a functional and good-looking design. The KraftMaid cabinets in Painted Dove White for the uppers and Painted Midnight for the lowers and island give the kitchen a fresh designer look. The gold cabinet pulls and lighting accents set the two-tone look off.

  • Open Spaces

    Open Spaces

Separated rooms were in vogue for homes built in the 1980’s and prior. Today’s style of living calls for more integrated and open spaces where family and friends can gather. This 1980’s home was improved with the removal of the wall separating the kitchen and dining room. The new kitchen layout includes a large island, a wall of pantry cabinets with loads of storage, a beautiful range hood plus room for multiple cooks. Wood Wise helped these homeowners make their older home live newer and better.

    Hall Bathroom Makeover

Often the hall bathroom is overlooked in home remodels. While doing a full kitchen and master bathroom renovation, these homeowners wanted their children to enjoy a prettier and newer bathroom, too.

A new squared-off tub with subway tile surround immediately gives a fresher more contemporary feel and plays off the new rectangular sink. The gray and white patterned floor tile and Shaker door style vanity topped with quartz help make this oft-overlooked room a showplace.

    Flip Out!

These homeowners frequently entertain at their home overlooking the golf course. Easy access to the kitchen from the deck was an important consideration in the recent Wood Wise remodel of their kitchen and first floor. This flip-out window hinges at the top and sits at 90 degrees. The window rests directly on the countertop and is sealed for no leaking. The smooth pass-through with the extended bar is an entertainer’s delight, allowing guests to sit at the outside bar and enjoy being served directly from the kitchen.

    Open Solution

This Cary kitchen had a problem common to many homes: the cabinets over the peninsula blocked off the adjoining family room. But simply removing them wasn’t going to solve the other issues of an inefficient layout, traffic pattern problems, poor lighting, and so on.

The homeowners came to Wood Wise to help take their closed-off kitchen from average to fabulous. With the new layout, the existing breakfast nook was incorporated to allow for the larger kitchen. The new sink and window placement works well for the parents to watch their three boys at play in the backyard. The large island has seating for the whole family.

    Metamorphosis

Who knew that behind the “before” kitchen there was the potential for this beauty? Wood Wise designer Kathy Walker saw it and presented the new layout as one of the options for these homeowners to consider. It turned out to be the winner. A two-foot bump out made it possible to have this large island with seating for the whole family.
