  • Designing With a Purpose

Wood Wise is good at designing spaces where people want to gather. These homeowners asked that their new porch live great and look great. Now family and friends alike are drawn to this attractive space to enjoy the stone fireplace and comfortable seating. The casual dining table is positioned for convenient access to the grill. The stone floor makes for easy upkeep. It’s a win-win for the homeowners and their guests.

  • Improving Your Space

Reconfiguring existing space in a home is a Wood Wise specialty. We love to take a poorly used or underused area and turn it into a favorite place. These Raleigh homeowners came to us desiring a new master bathroom. Wood Wise designer Kathy Walker took the adjoining small bedroom that was being used as an office/junk room and reconfigured it into the bathroom the homeowners were dreaming of. With well-thought-out features such as the frosted transom window and a Carrara-look porcelain tile, the half-wall with glass shower gives a spa-like experience. The large vanity is well-lit and provides plenty of storage space. Improving the space makes daily life better for these homeowners.

  • Making Selections With Confidence

Choosing selections for your renovation on your own can be confusing and discouraging. Where do you start? Which comes first, the countertop or tile?  How can you know if all the selections will look good together?

When you choose Wood Wise for your remodeling project, designer Kathy Walker organizes the order of the selection process and walks with you through each step. She has seen lots of different tile, countertops, and floor combinations, and is able to guide you in a way that reflects your style. With Kathy, you can have confidence that your final selections will look great. One big decision that Wood Wise homeowners’ focus on is the backsplash behind the cooktop. Here is a great-looking example of homeowners working with Kathy’s knowledge of materials to come up with a winning combination:

  • Rearranging for a Better Life

These homeowners love their prime location near Raleigh’s Five Points. But their home needed updating and some redesigning of spaces. They called Wood Wise to develop plans and build the renovation. With the homeowners working closely with Wood Wise designer Kathy, they chose a final design that rearranges the kitchen to utilize the space better. Some of the great features include a large granite-topped island that provides plenty of space for the sink and food prep. Beautiful KraftMaid cabinets are staggered in height to add character to the room. Cabinets flank one wall for tons of easily accessible storage space. Close by is a sunroom that was created by extending the back of the home. With the beautiful redesign and update, this home is ready for years of comfort and enjoyment.
