Continuing a look back at our past remodeling award entries:
Wood Wise was once again well represented at the 2014 STAR Awards. Here are our beautiful award-worthy entries:

Over the years Wood Wise has earned first place in numerous STAR Awards competitions. This year the STAR awards have been renamed the Home Builder Association Remodeling Awards. The competition is the same: HBA Remodeler Council members enter projects in various categories to compete for the coveted first place. A judging panel, made up of builders and architects from outside the area, are brought in to look at design and construction of each project. Winners are announced one evening in August with much excitement for the remodelers, similar to the Academy Awards.
We know that all our projects are award-worthy. Our homeowners tell us as much when they share how much they are enjoying the renovated spaces. As we enter completed projects into the 2019 HBA Awards and await the judges’ results, let’s look back at some of our past entries:

When these homeowners decided to remodel their 1960s original kitchen, they knew that opening up to the family room would help with entertaining as well as everyday living. However, what to do about the lost storage, access to dining room, or place for the refrigerator? That’s when Wood Wise was called in. Designer Kathy Walker developed several design options that opened up the kitchen to the family room, created more storage than the homeowners had before, and made room for a large island. The new pass-through provides a view to the front of the house and brings natural light in from the dining room windows. A small coat closet was relocated to provide a new dining room doorway. Recessed lighting and KraftMaid cabinets bring opportunities for easy organization.
This newly-remodeled kitchen, the result of good design solutions and top-notch construction, is now the kitchen these homeowners have dreamed about: opened-up and convenient.
These homeowners have a beautiful backyard and asked Wood Wise to help them create a comfortable place to enjoy it more. The final design features a stone fireplace, composite decking, and bead board ceiling. There’s plenty of room for two separate seating areas plus a table and chairs for meals. The wide steps open onto an existing stone patio with more seating. The homeowners are delighted with the results and use the porch year round.
