  • The Perfect Fix

    The Perfect Fix

These homeowners downsized to a great home in a great location that fit their needs except: the master bathroom and closet needed help. Wood Wise designer Kathy Walker came up with some clever designs for a new layout. The final layout included moving the toilet room to the old shower area which opened up more space for a larger closet. A large floor-to-ceiling pantry provides spacious storage and keeps towels conveniently located next to the shower. The homeowners are pleased with the results: a better layout, larger closet, and a more beautiful bathroom.

  • Laundry Room Shuffle

    Laundry Room Shuffle

As part of a kitchen and first floor renovation, this laundry room was relocated. Design options included one that shifted the location of the kitchen which allowed the old kitchen’s breakfast nook to become home to the new laundry room. Now the combination mudroom-laundry room is full of natural light from the bay window. Stylish storage is provided by KraftMaid cherry Putnam cabinets in Honey Spice that are topped with Lennon granite. The cool floor is rustic blue-gray porcelain plank tiles. The cubbies were custom built on site to fit the family’s needs.

  • Southern Porch Living

    Southern Porch Living

This Raleigh home near Cameron Village is in a great location. To make it even better, the homeowners needed more room plus outdoor living space for their growing family. Wood Wise designer Kathy Walker offered design options for their consideration. They chose an addition with a bonus room, bedroom, bathroom, and laundry room on the second floor with a large open porch on the first floor. The wide center steps on the porch lead to the back yard for easy access. Board and batten siding with black metal railings and hardwood flooring on the porch below give this addition its southern flavor.

  • Fabulous Makeover

When these homeowners asked Wood Wise to help with their kitchen/family room/laundry room renovation, they needed a new vision. After years of standing in the space and trying to imagine how it could be rearranged, their ideas had stalled. WW designer Kathy Walker came to the rescue, providing several options that radically changed the existing floorplan. The final plan is brilliant in the use of existing space and family-friendly layout. Stylish selections make it the kitchen we all want to be in.

  • Winning Remarks

Guild Quality is a third-party company Wood Wise employs to take end of project surveys of homeowner satisfaction. Here’s what the owners of the 2019 Remodeling Awards winning projects (kitchen & bathroom) had to say about working with WW designer Kathy Walker on improving their home:

“Kathy was incredibly patient and helpful throughout the process. She is an ace at narrowing the selections so that it is not overwhelming. Also, Kathy is wonderful at listening to our wishes – even when we didn’t agree! We could not be happier with the design work that Wood Wise provided to us.”

  • Remodeling Awards Celebration

We are still celebrating our wins in the Best Kitchen and Best Bathroom categories of the 2019 Remodeling Awards! Here are a couple of photos from the Awards Gala last Thursday evening at the Embassy Suites in Brier Creek. There was an Academy Awards-like atmosphere of secrecy and lots of suspense until the names were announced. Hank Wall, president, walked on stage to receive both trophies for Wood Wise. They are now proudly displayed in our office.

  • 2019 Remodeling Awards Winners!

Last night was the long-awaited HBA Remodeling Awards Gala. The area’s top remodelers got dressed up for an evening that celebrates the best in the remodeling industry. With much suspense over who would win in the various categories, the announcements were made. Wood Wise won for Best Bathroom (half bath – under $20,000) and Best Kitchen ($85,000 – $110,000)! We are thrilled and honored. The competition was the stiffest this year that we have ever seen, with lots of entries competing for the coveted awards. A special “thank you” goes out to our homeowners, Mike & Susan Howard, for choosing Wood Wise to remodel their home.

    We’re celebrating!

New hardwoods set off this spectacular kitchen featuring KraftMaid two-toned gray cabinets.
Every inch of space is used creatively such as the command center on the side of the refrigerator.
