From Blah to Wow!
This tired kitchen had an inefficient work space and poor lighting along with just being unattractive. The homeowners wanted more light, better food prep areas, and space for family and friends to gather. Wood Wise designed and built this updated kitchen that features new cabinets, granite countertops, and a long island with plenty of space for everyone.

Home Tour Success
Thanks to all who came out to see us on the Remodelers Home Tour this past weekend. We had a great time. Our tour home showcased a beautiful remodeled kitchen with KraftMaid cabinets and a great screen porch. The screen porch featured a stone fireplace and a bluestone floor that inspired all who saw it. Here’s a photo of the porch if you missed it: Don’t forget to sign up for our Remodeling Presentation hosted by Hank Wall and Kathy Walker. It promises to be a great evening!

Attractive Organization
Side entrances to homes can become a drop-off point for all the stuff of life: shoes, coats, sports equipment, etc. Providing an attractive and orderly side entryway was the goal of Wood Wise for these two homes. With plenty of cabinets and easy access for all family members, staying organized is made beautiful.

Beverages with Style
One big benefit of remodeling? Entertaining becomes more enjoyable. Having a well-designed space becomes a reflection of a person’s life. As guests and family gather together, the kitchen often becomes the center of activity. Some homeowners are opting for a beverage bar for their guests’ easy access. Here are some beautiful examples from Wood Wise projects:

Making a House a Home
The kitchen always seems to be the gathering place. Whether starting the day, sharing after school and work, or winding down at night, family and friends are drawn to the “heart of the home.” These homeowners needed their kitchen to be that kind of multi-purpose space, with places for family members, large and small. Features such as the large island and breakfast table, professional gas range, and window seat help make this Wood Wise remodeled kitchen warm and welcoming.

Swimming in Style
These homeowners have been enjoying their pool all winter. When Wood Wise helped to remodel their home, they decided to build a pool that would not be weather-dependent on its use. With features such as a vaulted ceiling in cypress with cypress beams, cultured stone walls, and shaped pool, this great addition surrounds family and guests in climate-controlled beauty.

Imagining the Possibilities
One of the goals at Wood Wise is to help clients visualize great design and efficient use of space in their homes. Kevin Diamond, our newest team member, is helping us to do just that. As a current student in the NCSU School of Architecture, Kevin brings good skills in the computer design programs of Auto CAD and SketchUp. He is able to turn 2-D drawings into 3 dimensional designs that make the spaces easier for our clients to see. As Kevin puts it, he “brings to life” the great designs that Hank and Kathy bring to him. Wood Wise’s…

Checking In
Following up with clients at both 60 days and 11 months after a project is finished is an important part of the Wood Wise process. When the homeowners respond they often comment on how much they are enjoying their newly renovated home. Here is what one homeowner said recently at the 11 month check-in: “Still enjoying the porch and kitchen and glad we went as big with the renovation as we did. It’s definitely been worth every penny – I put blankets out on the porch and sit out in the cold and watch the birds…” Here’s a look…
