  • What Makes A Successful Remodeling Project?

It takes a dedicated team to dream, design, and build a great remodeling project. Here are some important aspects to consider for your next renovation:

    • Trust: Finding a remodeling company you can trust is the #1 priority for a successful project. Look at recent reviews of the companies you are considering. Meet with them to see if you “click” with their ideas and process. Make sure you are given a referral list of past clients with contact info so you can call and ask about their remodeling experience. How many of their past clients would hire them again? A good remodeling company will have plenty of satisfied homeowners and should be able to provide you with a dozen or more recent clients for you to contact.
    • Collaborative design process: A good remodeler will listen to your goals and visions for the house, offering not just one solution but several options. He will welcome your suggestions and changes. The good remodeler understands that this is your home and your project should reflect your lifestyle.
    • Good project management: Having a good design is essential. The construction of that design is paramount. A good remodeler wants not only the finished product but the remodeling experience to be great. That requires a trained team of top professionals to pull it off.
    • Excellent problem resolution: It would be unrealistic to think a remodeling project that involves coordinating materials and managing dozens of subcontractors would go without some hitches. The key is how a remodeler deals with issues as they arise. Are they quick to respond and make things right? Do they listen and offer a good resolution?  An experienced remodeler will address situations in a timely manner.

Wood Wise Design & Remodeling, with over 26 years of experience, has worked hard to develop into the best remodeling company by being trust-worthy and offering great collaborative design, good project management, and excellent problem resolution. We welcome you to call and set up a meeting so we can tell you more about our process. • Award Winners!

We get pretty excited when we are recognized with honors for our work. At the 2018 STAR Awards Gala, Wood Wise was once again recognized for good design, top-notch construction, and very satisfied homeowners. Here’s Hank and Kathy, savoring the four wins:

  • Take Me Out to the Ballgame!

Wood Wise’s success is due, in part, to the great relationships and spirit of cooperation within our team. To foster that positive atmosphere, the Wood Wise team members included their families in a great evening out at the Durham Bulls Athletic Park. There was plenty of good food and laughter while watching the Bulls play the Columbus Clippers. Even though the Bulls lost, Wood Wise won with a rich time of being with treasured friends and meeting new ones.

  • A Remodeling Win-Win

Part of the kitchen remodel for these homeowners included creating better pantry and laundry room spaces. The existing rooms were separate and cluttered with minimal storage. WW designer Kathy Walker offered a design option that combined the two spaces. The homeowners loved it. Beautiful KraftMaid cabinets now provide more pantry storage than before and tidy up the laundry products and accessories. Having just one door freed up space for a better layout for the kitchen. A win-win for all!

  • Expanding and Improving

Living in Raleigh’s inside-the-beltline area is very desirable. The homes are older and often possess charms that newer homes are missing. Often Wood Wise is called in to address the portions of these homes that are less than charming. Such was the case with this 1940’s era home near Cameron Village. It had a nice lot in a good neighborhood but had been neglected over the years. The poorly built addition was an eyesore. Wood Wise provided options for a new addition that include a master bedroom, bathroom and sunroom. Take a look at the drastic before and after of the back of the home:

  • Creating A Presence

An important task for Wood Wise when working with clients is to help determine the scope of work. This brick ranch underwent a full interior renovation along with adding a porch and addition to the rear of the home. Such a major transformation on the inside called for a change in the front exterior. Solution: paint the brick a handsome cream with white trim and add a new roof. These changes take this house from plain and ordinary to having a stately presence.

  • A Delicious Solution

This small kitchen was original to the home and in need of a new layout. The homeowners are very social and host parties regularly. A large island for entertaining was a must. To get the adequate space, Wood Wise designer Kathy Walker provided design options that included having the existing living room become the new formal dining room. This allowed the existing dining room to become part of the new kitchen layout. The wall between the kitchen and family room was removed to open up the rooms. Two solar tubes give bright natural light to this interior kitchen.

Removing the walls between the family room, dining room, and kitchen makes this brick ranch live large.
  • Impressive

Certain elements of this existing kitchen were nice such as the wood ceiling and multiple windows. But the overall design and cabinet layout did not function well for these homeowners. Wood Wise designer Kathy Walker brought her expertise in cabinets to create a kitchen that not only looks fabulous but is convenient. The laundry room and pantry were originally two awkward spaces with separate doors off the kitchen that made the room feel cluttered. Kathy combined them to make one entrance off the kitchen. The KraftMaid cabinets, used in both the kitchen and new combined laundry/pantry room, provide lots of specialized storage along with being more easily accessed. Impressive.
