Properly size every job with a high efficiency HVAC system.
Products and Materials
Use green insulation: cotton batts, blown cellulose, and spray foam.
Use green flooring: cork, bamboo, native oak with knots, and recycled products.
Avoid tropical hardwoods: ipe, luaun, and mahogany.
Use engineered lumber products (LVL beams, truss joints, etc.) whenever possible.
Use low or zero VOC (volatile organic compound) paints whenever possible.
Use durable products, especially those that get heavy use/exposure.
Prime all sides of exterior wood trim to prevent water intrusion and rotting.
Use composite decking: Timbertek, Geodeck, CrossTimbers, etc.
Avoid carpet.

Drive a bio-diesel truck to reduce noxious emissions and our carbon footprint.
Recycle jobsite materials: cardboard, aluminum, plastic, etc.

Control indoor air quality with dust protection and clean practices.
Use advanced framing techniques to reduce waste and improve the thermal envelope.
Donate materials to Habitat for Humanity.
Hire nonsmokers.
Tarp and protect building materials to control moisture and thus mold.
Preserve existing products and finishes whenever possible.
Use natural, non-toxic sealers and stains.
Use 100% recycled paper in our office.
